Taking place immediately after a board meeting of the Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative (EITI) in Berne, the event, moderated by DevPol’s Editor-in-Chief, Gilles Carbonnier, featured the following invited speakers:
- Bady Baldé, Regional Director for Central Africa and Madagascar, EITI
- Andrew Gowers, Global Head of Corporate Affairs, Trafigura

The participants discussed the major challenge of how to achieve open and accountable management of African natural resources. More specifically, they discussed how to deliver effective governance and revenue transparency, as well as better dialogue between governments, industrial producers, trading companies and civil society.
